The response to my display and my website in 2006 has been tremendous, thanks for your support.
The biggest question I am receiving so far in 2006 is "How do I do this for my display next year?"
The "guts" that make it work are from a company called Light-O-Rama. They make the hardware and the software that actually allows you to create a light show simply by clicking, dragging, and drawing. They even have a demo software that you can download and try out to see how easy it is. They have been manufacturing the controller cards and software since 2003 and the support is top notch. In addition to Light O Rama, another good site to go to is Planet Christmas. Planet Christmas is a general website dedicated to everything about Christmas displays. One great feature is its chat room which is an offline style information forum where other Christmas enthusiasts share ideas and information and ask questions of the fellow members. There is a dedicated Light O Rama forum that is monitored by the support staff at Light O Rama. Here you can pick up all sorts of information about how LOR works and learn from others.
If you are around Indianapolis, then I can help you with a display like this for your business or homes. Yes that is not a typo I did say homes. LOR even has wireless capabilities and can allow you to sink up multiple homes, buildings, or points so that they are all synchronized to the music without requiring a control wire to go between points. LOR can scale from 1 to 240 controllers depending on your needs. Currently the maximum channels per controller is 16 giving you an available 3840 individual channels that can be controlled. LOR controllers can also be run in standalone mode so that they run their preprogrammed sequences whenever they are powered up allowing them to be used for animations, signs, etc. If you are interested in doing something like this or having me assist you please use the link on the left to contact me with your requests. If you are outside the Indianapolis area, I might be able to assist you with some of the programming requirements, again, contact me with your request.
